Non conventional energy sources

From the ancient period man has been using solar energy in daily life for various activities. Plants produce energy through photosynthesis by using sunlight. Solar energy stored in plants is available after millions of years as fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Therefore these are called non renewable energy resources.

The sun is 93 million km away and yet this ball of hot gases is the primary source of all energy on the earth. Solar energy can be used for cooking food, heating water, and generating electricity. It is hoped that the energy source of the future will be solar energy. Today solar energy is particularly used in equatorial and tropical regions which receive more solar radiation. In general we use solar energy in two systems.

Solar photo voltaic power system:

Here solar radiation is transformed into electricity through the solar cells made up of silicon. We can produce required electricity by fixing silicon cells on roof top of the houses and industries.

Solar thermal energy system:

By using solar thermal collectors the heat received from the sun can be converted into thermal energy. By concentrating solar radiation various thermal devices like solar coolers, water heaters, solar dryers and solar refrigerators etc., can be operated.

Merits:

  • It is a renewable resource

  • It is available throughout the world particularly in equatorial and tropical regions where there is no scarcity for solar radiation.

  • There is no environmental pollution

  • Electricity produced by solar energy can be stored in batteries and used when it is needed.

  • Sunlight and its heat are available freely without any expense.

Questions are the key

“Life is a game. The gain and loss of life depends on the luck of each person.” This thought prevails in all human minds. Lives profit and loss are not same as the election result, it is not so confusing. It is like the exam result which is steady.

Today’s youngster doesn’t search a job that suits them. Whatever job might by they tend to do them. This kind of people find difficult to gain victory in their life. This is an important thing in life.

One must fix his/her goal and then work towards it. This will bring success in his/her life. When one does not have a fixed goal, he/she find difficult to raise in his/her life.

One must think, what is his current position? What would be the next? What are the steps and things need for it? When they get a clear idea of it, the person has a bright future in his life and he will gain victory throughout his life.

John F Kennedy the famous American president has the habit of visiting his pupils in the white house. One day among the crowds stood a bright student. Kennedy just asked the boy “what is your future goal?” The boy said I want to be in your position when I grow up. Kennedy congratulated the boy and went away.

The boy who said like that became the president of America in the future. He was none other than Bill Clinton. Since he fixed his goal and worked towards it he was able to achieve his goal.

So think about you, your family situation and the ways you can build your future. When the answer for these small question start coming up in your mind, it means that your are going ahead in your bright future. Remember that small locks are the way to the big door. So tiny matters become a key stone to huge walls. Ask yourself a lot of questions. Those questions might be the key of success to your huge walls. If you remember this you will shine in your future.

Child labor

A very thorny development issue and human society affecting matter is the child labor. This is world wide problem. Children fundamental education and their young life happiness are not enjoyed by the pupil who is promoted to be a labor. In today’s scenario as the statistic given by the ILO (International Labor Organization) about 73 million children between the ages of 10 to 14 are employed in the work activities all over the world.

According to a survey the child labor is uncontrolled in Asia. About 44.6 million children were employed. Next comes Africa with 23.6 million and Latin America with 5.1 million.

In spite of taking all the necessary steps and introducing more child labor laws this matter prevails and persists in the world fact.

Child labor is a reality in spite of all the steps taken by the legal machinery to eliminate it. It prevails and persists as a world phenomenon in spite of child labor laws. The existing laws related to child labor are deliberately despoiled by the beneficiaries present all over the world. Government of India implemented the child labor law in 1986 stating that child labor is illegal and the minimum age for working should be fourteen years.

There were many loop holes in this law because it did not make the child labor completely illegal and does not meet the guidelines set by ILO, which says that the minimum working age is fifteen years. So without proper enforcement of all police and laws concerning child labor all over the world this act cannot be abolished.

How to stay fit as you age?

As a myth when diet and exercise are laid to rest it seems that another one is ready to take the place. A common misconception is that as a person age, he gains body fat.

But the reality is that the metabolism slow as much as five per cent per decade after age 40, this is because of insufficient exercise, which leads to loss of bone and muscles.

A few amounts of calories will be needed if a man has less bone and muscle tissues. So we rarely adjust calories downwards to compensate for this loss.

Excess abdominal fat predisposes people to higher incidences of type 2 diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol and cardiovascular diseases.

The best way to accelerate body metabolism is weight training. Resistance training on a regular basis will help to stimulate bone and muscle growth. This can be done two to three times a week at a minimum.

Remember to go in for exercise that involves all the major muscle groups of the body. The benefits are great: increased muscular strength lessens risk of injuries, makes it easier to go about your everyday task and helps maintain a healthy weight.

Conservation of energy sources

Energy saved one day is the energy gained for another day, saving energy will reduce pollution and help our fossil fuels last longer. The following are some of the practical measures for individuals to consume less energy:

  • Turn off radio and television when they are not in use.

  • Turn off the light when you are not using them.

  • Use solar powered calculator instead of battery powered calculator.

  • Keep the refrigerator door closed without keeping it opened for a long time.

  • Use energy efficient office equipments.

  • Use solar cookers, lantern and water heater.

Lenin

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin is an Russian born in 22 April 1870 and lived till 21 January 1924. He born as Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov and was commonly known by the names V. I. Lenin or simply Lenin. He was a Russian revolutionary, communist politician, Bolshevik leader, principal leader of the October Revolution and the first head of the Soviet Union. He was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century in 1998. His contributions to Marxist theory are commonly referred to as Leninism.

List of statues of Lenin

Many cities in the Soviet Union had monuments of Vladimir Lenin. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, many statues of Vladimir Lenin were broken with no permission from their authors. This happened even earlier in the European post-Communist states and in the Baltic States. However, in many of the former Soviet Republics (namely Russia, Belarus and Ukraine) many remain, and some new ones have been erected.
In Ukraine Lenin monuments and other Soviet-era monuments are still being removed. But on the occasion of the 139th anniversary of Lenin two new Lenin monuments where erected in Luhansk Oblast.

Yucca Root

Yucca (also known as manioc or cassava), is a white, starchy tropical vegetable that widely grown and consumed in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In many countries, yucca is a dietary staple usually eaten boiled, steamed, and in flour form as thickeners or additional ingredients for noodles, cakes, and pastries.

Yucca root has made a home growing in Florida since the late 1800s. Cassava is a bushy perennial that can grow as tall as 8 feet. The white interior of yucca is firmer than potatoes and has high starch content. Fresh yucca has thick, dark brown skin that resembles a tree's bark. Fresh yucca is available year round. Look for firm blemish free tubers. Store whole yucca as you would potatoes, in a cool, dark, dry place for up to one week. Peeled yucca covered with water and refrigerated or wrapped tightly and frozen for several months.

Yucca can easily be substituted for potatoes in soups and stews and it contains a high amount of vitamin C and carbohydrates. It is also a good source of dietary fiber and contains approximately 120 calories per 1 cup serving
